Water Clarity Benchmarks
Water clarity is an important measure of aquatic health that is both scientifically significant and also relates to an observable phenomenon of great interest to the public. Targets will be proposed based on a thorough analysis of existing water quality data and other data, as needed. The geographic scope of this project includes all the coastal bays of Sarasota County, including all the segments used for the last decade of ambient water quality monitoring. The specific bays and bay areas include Sarasota Bay, New Pass, Big Sarasota Pass, Roberts Bay (Sarasota), Little Sarasota Bay, Midnight Pass, Blackburn Bay Lyons Bay, Dona Bay, Roberts Bay (Venice), Lemon Bay, and estuarine Myakka River.
