Sarasota County, Mote Marine Laboratory and the City of Venice are sponsoring two workshops designed to teach coastal residents how to illuminate property for safety while reducing light pollution and protecting nesting sea turtles.
Topics include:
- best fixtures for your property
- lighting and crime
- sea turtle biology
- light source differences
- sky glow/light pollution
- sea turtle protection codes.
The workshop is free of charge but registration is required; deadline is March 12th. The March 15th workshop will be at Mote Marine Laboratory in Sarasota, and the March 28th workshop will be at Venice City Hall.
